Road to Recovery: The Surgery

For the past year and a half, my shoulder had been super wonky. As it turned out, I had contracted a case of “getting older.”

Yep, years of dance and martial arts had finally taken their toll. I reached the point where surgery was my only option left for being able to once again perform at the level I felt to be acceptable. My surgery was in December and I had my biceps tendon reattached to help me compensate for a labral tear.

My recovery has been pretty standard – 6 weeks in a sling and 6 months of Physical Therapy. I still have a way to go but I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel … and with it the possibility of returning to the stage when this is all over.

I hope you’ll join me on this  journey as I make my way back to the stage!

  1. You will be in my prayers. Hope everything will go well. There is nothing better than performing and showing off what you love!
